with Jackie Meacham and Karen Erstad
Inspired by Baron Baptiste’s book 40 Days to Personal Revolution, Inner Fire Yoga is offering a transformative 40-Day Bootcamp, which kicks off with a 2.5-hour Mini-Bootcamp workshop with Jackie Meacham and Karen Erstad on Jan. 15. You can attend the mini-bootcamp alone, or sign up for the entire 40-Day Bootcamp. The Mini-Bootcamp workshop will include an overview and introduction to the 40-Day Bootcamp, a vigorous practice and a lovely meditation.
Participants in the 40-Day Bootcamp will establish or continue a regular yoga and meditation practice, will observe and perhaps adjust their diet, and will journal on specific questions from Baptiste’s book to facilitate personal inquiry and self-awareness. We’ll also meet on Sunday afternoons from 2-3 p.m. to check in and see how the past week went. These gatherings help to create a shared sense of purpose and community. We’ll wrap up the Bootcamp with a celebration class on Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
40-Day Transformation: How it Works
Daily Yoga Practice: Baron Baptiste recommends daily yoga practice during these 40 days to hardwire the benefits into your nervous system. Our recommendation is four to seven practices a week at Inner Fire Yoga, unless you are traveling for work. Participants are welcome to practice Power Flow, HOT or Inner Fire Flow, and at least one day of practice a week should be very low intensity, perhaps a YIN class. Also, if you’ve got a full schedule one day, practice could be 20 minutes at home at the beginning of your day. While we encourage you to do as many practices at the studio as possible, we also have online podcasts available to support your home practice or if you’re on the road. Plus, Baptiste’s 40 Days to Personal Revolution includes suggested yoga practices.
Daily Meditation Practice: You will start your meditation practice with just five minutes in the morning and five minutes at night (and, yes, a five-minute or longer savasana counts as a meditation). Your meditation practice will grow from there, adding time each week. Note on meditation: there is often resistance to do it, but the key is to do it anyway. Meditation can be done with very soft, soothing music in the background.
Observance of Diet: Each week you’ll observe your eating patterns, with the intention of learning to intuitively make healthy and wholesome food choices that are nourishing and sustaining. In week four, you’ll take a three-day fruit cleanse to give your body a rest and continue to shift toward enriching ways of experiencing food.
Reading and Journaling: You’ll read a chapter of Baptiste’s 40 Days to Personal Revolution each week, and then you’ll journal on specific questions that are meant to cultivate a greater self-awareness. (Note: you will not be required to share your journal writing, but are welcome to at the weekly meetings.)
Weekly Community Meetings: On Sunday afternoons during the 40-Days program from 2-3 p.m. at Inner Fire, Karen and Jackie will facilitate a forum for discussion, sharing and clarity. Our intention is for the meetings to be a great source of encouragement, accountability and revelation. It is important that your commitment to this program includes participation in the Sunday meetings, however we understand that “life happens”. These meetings are there to support you in the process.
