Hot yoga
Hot Yoga is a series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises performed in precise order, in a heated room. This classical style hatha yoga class systematically works the entire body, stretching muscles, building foundational strength, detoxing internal organs, stimulating the glandular systems, and challenging the cardiovascular system. This 90 minute class is appropriate for beginners and more experienced students alike. It is truly a complete mind-body work-out. Your focus will improve, your mind will become clear, your body will detox and you will feel as if you are floating out of class.
Power Flow yoga
Power flow yoga is a flowing yoga class in a heated room that incorporates the flow of the breath with movement, inspiring music is often an integral part of the experience. This is a very challenging yoga class that will result in great strength, detoxification through breath and sweat, increased flexibility and range of motion from flowing movements and deep stretching.
It includes several vinyasa flows, long holds for maximum strength, focused abdominal work, inversions and arm balances, and concentrated spinal work. Keen focus, concentration, control of breath, and determination are required – a willingness to reach higher and burn brighter!
A regular and established power flow yoga practice is required to attend an Intermediate level class.
Inner Fire Flow
Inner Fire Flow is a graceful, fun and challenging yoga class. This sequenced class (meaning it is always the same order of poses) combines many of the foundational classic yoga poses found in a Hot yoga class with well known Power Flow sequences. Because it is the same sequence every time, it enables practitioners to let go of external focus, calm the mind and experience the moment to its fullest, connecting being with breath. An Inner Fire Flow class will leave you feeling strong, energized, cleansed and open to all that may arise. This class is offered in both a 60 minute sequence and a 75 minute sequence.
Slow Flow yoga
Slow Flow Yoga is just as it sounds – a mindful, slowly paced yoga class that incorporates conscious flowing of breath with movement of body. This class is appropriate for beginners and brand new students. The challenge in the class is from awareness of movement that is slow and focused. Therefore, this class can be a welcome change for students who like a fast-flowing, more intermediate level class as well. This class will build strength through slow-focused movements, detoxify cells through breath and sweat from the warm room, increase flexibility and range of motion from flowing movements and deep stretching. It includes focused and gentle opening of the body and spine, foundational yoga poses and sun salutations, attention to detail on breath and alignment, and some long holds for strength. Keen focus, concentration, control of breath, and determination are cultivated in Slow Flow Yoga, plus a willingness to reach higher and burn brighter!
Yin yoga
A gentle, relaxing one hour yoga class that works deeply into muscles and connective tissues through extended holds of postures. This is a great class for those looking to restore flexibility and or work deeply into joints and tissues that are “locked up” from past injuries or from repetitive motion. Yin yoga specifically targets the hips, pelvis and lower spine. The challenge from this class comes from staying deeply in a stretch for an extended period of time – by going beyond the point of wanting to “give up”. The focus is less on fitness and more on restoration, de-stressing and relaxation. For many students, this class is one of the most challenging, yet totally relaxing experiences they have.
Core Fire™ yoga
Core Fire™ yoga will challenge you at the deepest level of your core. It is an upbeat class designed to stoke the fire in the belly by strengthening and stretching the abdominal and back muscles. It combines familiar vinyasa flow with core-focused exercises. Core Fire™ yoga helps you discover a new-found sense of confidence, stand taller and straighter, and may alleviate and/or prevent back pain.
Beyond the invaluable physical benefits, Core Fire™ yoga ignites the third (solar) chakra. Situated by the navel at the solar plexus, the solar chakra governs digestion and metabolism. A healthy and clear third chakra ignites your energy and spirit, enabling a responsible, authentic life infused with laughter.
Introduction to yoga
These classes are for students who are brand new to yoga or who have practiced yoga just a few times. The instructor will start the class with a verbal introduction to yoga. Then a “gentle” class will follow, with time taken as necessary to explain the postures in detail, demonstrate, and answer questions. Students who sign up for the intro offer of one month of unlimited yoga for $40 at the end of class will receive a $10 discount (available to local residents who have not taken advantage of the introductory offer before)!
Advanced yoga
The Advanced yoga class incorporates advanced yogic practices as well as learn the building blocks for advanced asana within the framework of power flow. The emphasis on pranayama will be for longer durations. Each class includes a guided meditation. The class has a weekly class theme that is based around more advanced level asanas that require a deeper level of flexibility, strength, and balance. Students participating are not expected to perform the asana but should be willing to practice the building blocks for a deeper practice.
